MD3: NEWSLETTER

Arsenal vs Shakhtar was always going to challenge my ‘No Arsenal until wildcard’ strategy - but is Saka fit!?

HEADLINES

✍️ 24 hours before each matchday I put together all the essential information you need to make informed UCL Fantasy decisions.

My Current OR: 51,825. Top 4%.

🎯 My 24/25 Target: Top 1k

💥 Key players who went HUGE (14+ points) in MD3: Adeyemi (23pts), Salah (14pts), Lookman (14pts), Raphina (14pts)

🚑 Key players Injured or Suspended for MD3:
➡️ Di Gregorio (suspended)
➡️ Salisu (potential injury)
➡️ Diogo Jota (off injured at weekend)
➡️ Adeyemi (injured)
➡️ Bremer (injured)
➡️ Saka (didn’t feature in Arsenal’s PL game)
➡️ There were doubts over Wirtz, Yamal & Goncalves but it sounds like all three will be available for selection

I’ll be keeping a close eye on last minute news so make sure you follow me on X (@_FantasyEd)

🔥 Players I’d love to own in MD3: Pulisic, Theo Hernandez, Saka, Vlahovic, Watkins, Havertz, Retegui, Guirassy, Frimpong.

✅ Fixtures to target in MD3
AC Milan vs Club Brugge: Theo Hernandez & Christian Pulisic
Aston Villa vs Bologna: Watkins & Rodgers
Arsenal vs Shakhtar: Saka, Havertz & Gabriel
Man City vs Sparta Prague: Haaland, Lewis, Foden, Grealish? Who knows with Pep!

🧢 Captaincy options: Day 1: Hernandez, Watkins, Vlahovic, Saka. Day 2: Haaland, Lewa, Kane (although those two play each other!)

💰 FIVE Potential MD3 Bargains: Bellanova (£4m), Morgan Rodgers (£5m), Mateo Retegui (£5.5m), Oscar Gloukh (£6m), Bah (£5m)

⤵️ My UCL Fantasy Three: At the bottom of every email I send I pick out 3 players in each position who should be considered for the upcoming MD (scroll down!). It was 5 last gameweek but it takes ages! 😂

LIMITLESS DRAFT

💰 Each week i’ll show you who i’d pick if I was on a LL because a) it’s fun and b) it might help someone:

I would also consider Retegui for Vlahovic but other than that I think i’d be happy playing this for MD3 Limitless.

ED’S TEAM - OR 51,825

Here is my team before any moves ahead of MD3.

After a lacklustre MD2 (albeit with a green arrow), i’d like to get moving again this MD and i’m considering taking one hit (total of 3 transfers) to attack these awkward fixtures.

Two immediate problems stand out. Di Gregorio is suspended for one MD and Bogarde isn’t expected to play for Villa on Tuesday. Alongside those issues, there are a few players i’m not 100% happy owning including; Bellingham, Lewandowski, Gyokeres, Mendy and TAA.

I’ve decided i’m going to leave Di Gregorio and just go with Blaswich this MD and hope for the best. That means I can change 2/3 outfield players.

One option (if Saka is fit):

❌ Bogarde, Bellingham & Gyokeres

✅ Hernandez, Saka, Retegui

I will wait until the last minute to make any moves as I feel I NEED Saka if he’s fit and I still need to build up the courage to actually take a hit when I don’t HAVE to! Regardless, this is a tricky week for a lot of managers, so the aim really is to get through unscathed - a green arrow would be a huge bonus.

THE MD3 THREE

Each matchday I put together three players from each position that I would consider decent picks. These ARE generally short-term picks, but if you’re a bit stuck and need some good suggestions, this is a good place to start.

DOES NOT INCLUDE PLAYERS I ALREADY HAVE!

THREE Goalkeepers:

  • Emi Martinez (£5m) - Villa have Bologna at home in MD3 followed by Club Brugge away. I could see two clean sheets.

  • David Raya (£5.6m) - It’s Arsenals GK against Shaktar at home.

  • Ederson (£6m) - It’s Man City’s GK against Sparta Prague at home.

THREE Defenders:

  • Alexander Bah (£5.0m) - Benfica have surprised me so far in the UCL and in their 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid Bah got a clean sheet, a goal and he recovered the ball ten times! A 15 pointer and now Benfica have Feyenoord at home.

  • Theo Hernandez (£5.5m) - Theo Hernandez has had a Serie A suspension so should be super fresh for this home game against Club Brugge. Probably the most attacking LB (maybe with Dimarco) in world football.

  • Gabriel (£5.5m) - Arsenal defence? Against Shakhtar at home? Yes please. If you have got a free transfer to use and you don’t have an Arsenal defender, get one.

THREE Midfielders:

  • Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) - In ten games Pulisic has 3 assists and 6 goals. He has become the main man at AC Milan AND he’s on penalties. Club Brugge at home this week.

  • Bukayo Saka (£9.0m) - IF FIT, Saka is probably the best captaincy option for the first day of the Matchday. I’ll be keeping a close eye on last minute news so make sure you follow me on X (@_FantasyEd)

  • Ademola Lookman (£6.5m) - Two goals in two games in Serie A and he became the first player to score a hattrick in a one legged european final since 1969 last summer (Europa League Final). BARGAIN.

THREE Forwards:

  • Ollie Watkins (£9.5m) - Villa have Bologna at home this matchday and Watkins could be set to haul. He already has 5 goals this season and could be set to extend that record on Tuesday.

  • Mateo Retegui (£5.5m) - The bargain. 8 goals and 2 assists in 8 games this season and Celtic at home (who conceded 7 to Dortmund in their last UCL away game) make him a very tasty option. Only 1% owned as well.

  • Dusan Vlahovic (£8.0m) - 7 goals and 2 assists in 10 games this season for the big Juventus forward. With Stuttgart at home, he is one of the best options upfront this matchday.

GOOD LUCK!
